One of the things Mrs. Connie and Mrs. LeeAnne learned at last month's workshop was that to a young child, no set of letters has more impact or interest than his or her own name. As a result, we've started incorporating more name work into our letter studies. Today we did name cheers! You know the old style "Give me an A!" cheer? We did that, with the students spelling out their names. After each letter, the kids would shake pom-poms and cheer "I've got your A, I've got your A, I've got your A!" They
loved it.
We also used a long plastic tube and funnel to say letter sounds back and forth to each other.
Finally, we did a little bit of painting, in preparation for our safari tomorrow. A girl's got to have pink binoculars, right?
